Thane’s Naupada police has lodged an FIR against a ward boy of a private hospital who reportedly injured a 14-year-old boy. The ward boy used an electric grinder to remove a metal ring from the teenager’s finger. Doctors have said that the boy may lose his finger.

The boy’s family said that they went to the hospital for treatment but were sent back after receiving first aid, by a doctor who said that he would operate on the finger the next day. However, instead of a doctor, the ward boy came to their house to remove the ring. He damaged the boy’s finger by using an electric grinder to break the ring. The police said that while the incident occurred in June, an FIR was lodged on August 16 based on the complaint by the family members of the teenaged boy.

The ring was removed, but the boy developed medical complications and is undergoing treatment. Doctors suspect that the finger has developed gangrene.

A police official said that an FIR had been registered against the ward boy and they were investigating the reason why the ward boy was asked to perform the surgery.
